Anti-Foaming Energy Conservation System (AFEC) for Electric Humidifiers

The AFEC technology developed by the N.E.P. engineering team offers a unique safety and energy conservation management of expensive boiling water and steam. The AFEC system is made of a mass measuring water sensor, anti-foam sensor, electronic high temperature sensor, interactive LCD display and microprocessor controller.
The AFEC system is unique because:

The water sensor cannot be falsely triggered by foam formation on the top of the boiling water. This eliminates the problem of heating elements burning out in free air.

The additional foam-sensing probe, which is unique to our design, would automatically initiate a drain cycle upon foam formation. Unlike other humidifiers, the drain can be initiated only when necessary without having continuous skimming to drain expensive boiling water. This is an excellent energy conservation measure.

The SK300 is unique in having fast actin electronic safety temperature sensors inside the steam container in very close proximity to the heating elements. Other humidifiers use only a bimetallic external electro-mechanical temperature switch (which is also standard on all SK300s). Therefore, the AFEC system provides an additional layer of protection.
SK300 Power Humidifiers

The SK300 are power humidifiers designed to provide dry sterile steam for humidification.
They combine the latest microprocessor based electronic design with carefully matched metallurgical and mechanical technology perfected over two decades by National Environmental Products Ltd. The design is based on permanent rather than replaceable containers.

Simplicity of Operation and Service:
The SK300 humidifier consists of an automatically water fed stainless steel container with an easily removable cover containing heating elements and water level sensors.
Periodic servicing of the unit can be easily done in minutes. All mechanical, power and control connections are readily accessible for quick servicing.

The mechanical and electrical compartments are secured by wide hinged doors allowing comfortable inspection and access to all components.

Exceptional Reliability:
Reliability of the SK300 humidifier is one of the features that set it apart from competing humidifiers. Using the proprietary AFEC technology, the SK300 is much more forgiving to variable water conditions. Great care has been taken to select materials which have proven themselves for their exceptional performance in very harsh conditions. Such materials are elements made of super alloy, incoloy 825, teflon sleeved stainless steel level control probe, silicon tubing and baked enamel painted aluminum cabinet.
Selection of electro-mechanical and electronic components has been based on many years of experience and exhaustive testing. All SK300 units pass through rigorous Q.C. inspection and full power check.
Commercial humidifiers

One of the most common health issues that plague our society is dehydration. Most of the tissue in the body is composed of water. If it loses the water, the tissue dries up. It's elasticity goes, and with it function declines. Besides dry skin, the symptoms of dehydration include chronic joint and muscle pain, raspy throat, sore eyes and lack of mental concentration.

There are two ways to combat dehydration, and both are essential; drink a lot of water, and maintain the relative humidity in the home and office at comfortable levels with the use of a humidifier.

How does humidity AFFECT our health?

Conditioning the amount of moisture in the air with a humidifier is necessary for your family's health. Dry air in your home can make your throat feel dry, and cause or aggravate respiratory ailments.

Inadequate humidification during cold weather is one of the major causes of respiratory infections. The heating seasons causes people to begin having repeated attacks of winter colds. Winter is blamed for these problems, but the actual cause is dryness, which develops in the membranes of the nose, throat and bronchial tubes. Relative humidity also has a significant effect on controlling the occurrence of airborne infections.

The one thing we can do about alleviating some of the discomfort of colds, dry noses and dehydrated skin is to install a humdifier in the home, where we spend most of our time. Actually, for many, dry air is an air-quality issue. Dry air promotes the growth of some bacteria, viruses and respiratory irritants that in sensitive individuals cause conditions worse than dry skin. Adequate moisture enables the body's immune system to defend better against indoor respiratory pollutants and irritants.

How will a humidifier affect your comfort?

Humidity in the home will affect your comfort. Since the air in your home is always trying to reach its saturation point, it will absorb water wherever it's found, that means it is stealing moisture from the bodies of you and your children, your pets, your furniture and even your house plants. By giving up moisture to the air, your skin, throat and nasal passages dry out and crack leading to various physical discomfort. That's why many doctors recommend humidifiers for allergy and asthma sufferers.

How does humidity AFFECT my house?

Virtually everything in your home made from wood contains some moisture. As dry air sucks that moisture out, the wood shrinks and cracks. Hardwood floors separate at the seams, furniture shrinks and cracks, and doors warp and no longer fit their frames as the moisture is drawn off.

Also, perhaps the most annoying effect of dry indoor air is static shock. How many times have you shuffled across the carpet, only to be rudely surprised by the crackle of static as you reach for the light switch! It's no fun when it happens to you, and even less so when you reach out and "zap" a loved one. With the capacity to hold a static charge up to 20,000 volts, your body can also wreak havoc on home computers and other sensitive electronic devices. By maintaining indoor relative humidity at 35 percent or higher with the use of a humidifier, static shocks are greatly reduced.

Are there any other BENEFITS to installimg a humidifier in the home?

Yes! Proper relative humidity helps you save energy costs. Warm, humid summer air feels hotter than it actually is because of the moisture it contains. That same principle applies to your home in the winter. By keeping the relative humidity inside your home at an ideal level, you can turn your thermostat down a few degrees and still feel comfortable. Dialing down your thermostat just three degrees can reduce your heating bill by as much as 5%.

Electric element type commercial steam humidifiers.

The importance of the right humidity level in every residential and commercial building can not be over-estimated. Humidity becomes the most important factor for everyone's comfort while inside a closed heated space, especially during winter time.

If the air in the house does not contain enough moisture, people may feel cold and uncomfortable - even at 75 F. Dry, thirsty air evaporates moisture from skin, a cooling process that makes one feel chilly. But, with humidity raised to recommended levels, the thermostat can be dialed down to 68 F and still maintain comfortable feeling.

A newly released Neptronic Series SK-300 element type electric power humidifier offers unmatched precise humidity control in any size building, and for the most sophisticated ventilating ductwork design. Its computerized modulating output steam capacity control minimizes electric power consumption, while maintains the desired humidity level within 2% relative humidity range

The self contained SK300 steam humidifiers produce mineral free, odorless, sterile steam without the replacement cost associated with electrode cylinders manufactured by competitors.

SK300 Electric Humidifier has the following features:

• Capacities from 6-180lb/hour (2.7-82kg/hour) of steam • On/Off or fully
modulating with solid state relays
• BACnet interface capability
• AFEC system, mass measuring water sensor.
• Permanent stainless steel chamber with self cleaning heating elements
• Simplicity of operation and service
• Corrosion and scratch resistant aluminum housing with powder paint finish
• Wall mounted installation

The evaporation chamber of the SK300 consists of a permanent stainless steel chamber with self cleaning heating elements. The components of the humidifiers are readily accessible for easy and quick servicing. Reliability of the SK300 is one of the features that set it apart from competing humidifiers. The content of the supply water is not an issue. Using the AFEC patented technology, the water sensor will measure the mass of the water (instead of the conductivity) insuring a proper water level at all time.

The steam can be distributed into a duct by a steam distributor or with a fan distribution unit for direct space applications. This technique is described in details at http://www.nisco.net/neptronic.html.
